At Rosevelt Field

The ACDS Let's Groove Zumba Performers under the direction of Vera Finkelstein rocked the mall.

Board Member Yelena Nemirovskaya with son Noah.  With husband Eric, also a Board Member, they manned the Alexander's Angels table.

Self-Advocate Brittany Schiavone, founder of Brittany's Baskets of Hope received 20 WDSD onesies for her baskets from Alexander's Angels.

Co-President Kyle Erickson addressed the audience while Co-President
Lauren Gomez-Nieto greeted her fellow Civil Air Patrol cadets who, once again, helped with our event.

Bob and Eileen McAuliffe, captains of the team Kelley Koalas & very active since 2007, celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary with us.  Their daughter Kelley enjoyed the Star Wars characters.

Shane Stepinsky (Shane Shining Stars) chats with the Star Wars characters.  His brother Anthony Cuccia is responsible for making our newsletter look professional, 6 times a year!

Enjoy the video of the Star Wars dancing with our guests. DJ Chris is sponsored by Daniel Walsh's East Neck Insurance at our two major annual events.

Self-Advocate John Cronin, who with his father Mark are the founders of John Crazy socks, entertained the participants.

Francesca Sottile, (Francesca's Dreams team since 2007) Co-VP of Alexander's Angels Youth/Self-Advocates competing with a Star Wars character.

Not only did the NY Islanders mascot Sparky delighted our guests, but the Islanders also provided a table filled with prizes to make our event really special.

You are never too young to become a Star Wars fan.  Little Noah seems mesmerized by the creature in front of him.

The Rodriguez Family (Team Carlani) take a break from overseeing the Arts & Crafts table.

Co-Presidents Kyle and Lauren get ready to depart the mall after a very enjoyable event.

But... there is more!
An integral part of the event was an informal DOWNrightART exhibition.

Star Wars at Simon's Roosevelt Field

With Alexander's Angels since 2009, the Star Wars characters have been amusing our youngsters and the young at heart at our two major annual events. Early on they brought a fun car to our Buddy Walk(R) and at the 2023 WDSD celebration they joined the many who made signs with that year's theme!!!

Danny Walsh, owner of East Neck Insurance, was the DJ at Alexander's Angels 1st Long Island Buddy Walk(R) in 2007 and for many years afterwards.  Ever since he opened his insurance business, he has been sponsoring Chris at Alexander's Angels two major annual events.  Thank you, Danny!

Arjun Bedi at Simon's Roosevelt Field

Co-Illustrator of our Youth/Self-Advocate Group, accomplished musician, and brother to Maneet--of Team Maneet—Arjun is also a Star Wars fan. He is delighted to announce the arrival of the Star Wars characters at this year’s site of Alexander’s Angels WDSD celebration by playing the Star Wars theme on his French horn

Led by Carlani's mother, Eva, with the help of members of her family and friends, as they do twice a year will set up tables where the participants of this event will try their hands at a craft that they will take home as a reminder of the good time they had at the event. We encourage you to visit the Arts & Crafts table and bring home your masterpiece.
