BBOH - Brittany's Baskets of Hope

Written by Brittany and Sue Schiavone
Brittany’s Baskets of Hope (BBOH) and Alexander’s Angels have supported one another since BBOH was founded in 2016. It has been truly meaningful to partner with a like-minded organization dedicated to uplifting and advocating for families of children with Down syndrome.
As a self-advocate, Brittany has always felt welcomed, supported, and valued by Alexander’s Angels, and has been given many opportunities to share and expand her mission.
We especially cherish coming together for the Buddy Walk and celebrating World Down Syndrome Day—reconnecting with longtime friends and warmly welcoming new families into this extraordinary and supportive community.

Reconnect Day at Roslyn High School
The Roslyn High School Student's United for Safer Schools (SUSS), and their adviser, Mrs. Kinshasa Allen
shared the text below with our guests at our recent WDSD event:

In 2010 students at Roslyn High School established the Student's United For Safer Schools chapter. In doing so, we pledged to promote student intergrity, along with educating the school community about bully prevention, and school safety.
Throughout the years, our vision and mission has expanded to promote self care and mental health awareness among teenagers, and inclusion of the special needs community.
We at Roslyn High School believe in embracing diversity. In 2020 ,the SUSS club took a leap of faith , and began a new initiative called Reconnect Day. During this time, we reached out to our friends at Alexander's Angels, and invited them to join us . We are proud to say that our program has been running for 5 years now, and had expanded so much. Alexander's Angels has a special bond with us. We have had their members give presentations throughout the years, and the best part of it all is that new friendships have been created.
The Roslyn High School SUSS Team is proud to be a friend of Alexander's Angels, and we look forward to working together to promote kindness and love in our community.
